OMG, we totally want to go here, we saw it when we were tooling around on Sunday. I was going to ask about it in my previous post but feared that I would look like a hick or something. We have already decided that will be our local. Also, we love the Salem Beer Works. Well, the beer at least, maybe not the "scene" so much.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the scene in Salem. Maybe a little more toursity.

I'm mildly burnt out on the food at Beer Works (which I've always liked) but apparently the menu is being re-vamped soon (I hang out both at the Salem and the Canal Street Boston Beer Works a LOT).

Food options are good around Salem, I must say (Cabot Street in Beverly looks like it's got a lot going for it too). Among other places, there's both an upscale and a downscale Mexican, and both are VERY good for what they do.

Hee. I've been to the Salem Beer Works. I even have two glasses and sweatshirt from it with the pumpkin ale logo, which is cool shit.

Ah, scene, schmene. What I said before came out wrong I think. Beer is the key, and not getting into fights. Those are my sole requirements for scene.

Also, I became paralyzed with paranoia that my previous home-owning=grown-up equation as it applied to my own self-image may have come off as insulting those who are not home owners. So, if that is the case, I apologize, and did not mean to apply that view to anyone except my own silly self.

Mmm, pumpkin ale.

Though I am not certain I've ever tried any sort of pumpkin ale in my years of sampling outlandish beers, I am somehow convinced that it is delicious.

I can't figure out what penguins Calli saw. This is going to bug me until billytea shows up to tell us all about them.

Pumpkin ale is odd. It sounds really yummy, but it tastes...weird. Great for making pumpkin bread, though.

Or have people been using "in love" to mean "sexually attracted to"?

I think "love" is often the word people use for limerance, or romantic obsession. The part of love which used to be (and probably should still be) considered a form of mental illness back before the troubadours got hold of it.

And that's probably a valid use for the word, though it doesn't describe the enduring complex of feeling which will sustain a marriage.

FTR, the pumpkin ale at Beer Works was delicious. Yum!

so, it's settled. Everyone must come visit us in Salem in October, for our one year wedding anniversay/housewarming, and we will also all go to the Salem Beerworks and have pumpkin ale.

Just make sure it's in the early part of the month, because even on weeknights the mob scene is outrageous, and the last weekend there are even sometimes admission charges to get into some of the bars (ala Irish bars in Boston near St. Paddy's).
