All right, no one's killing folk today, on account of our very tight schedule.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Last weekend's EW was the Summer Movie Preview issue.

OK, now I'm really pissed off.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Huh. I don't know if I got that EW either.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Huh. I don't know if I got that EW either.

How will you ever know what to do all summer?

I am so adrift now. I've just screwed up the next five or so months.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Yeah, last year when my mail carrier broke the last straw (by wrapping the erroneously returned Christmas gift I'd sent meara around my mailbox instead of just placing it by my door or leaving a delivery note) I went to the postmaster to begin formal complaint proceedings.

One word of caution—the woman looked up my phone number and left me messages asking to talk so she could convince me to drop the complaint. Which I think is fairly laughable when a dissatisfied customer has gone to the trouble of finding a supervisor at a federal agency and driving to his office to file a complaint in person, though I suppose she couldn't lose anything by trying.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

My mail mysteriously stopped coming for a week, about a year after I moved into my current apartment. I called the nearest post office, and said, essentially, WTF? The next day my mail showed up. A whole lot of mail, so I'm assuming some of it had been held. Hope something similar happens for you, Susan.

First time I started missing EW, turned out my subscription had expired, but they couldn't tell me about it, because I'd asked them not to spam me. Pfft.

It seems that Jolie and/or Pitt authorised the sale of snapshots of them on vacation. It makes me laugh that publications adore these pics, yet they're completely unsalacious. Some proof of a torrid homewrecking affair these are. Wouldn't eye contact be expected, at least?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

So no Florence King then I suppose.

Aren't I the poor man's Florence King? I'm conservative?

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Grr. Talked to a nice guy at our post office who checked wherever they hide the nondelivered mail. He couldn't find anything, but took my number so he could call me back if he gained any useful info from talking to our carrier when he's back from his route. He suggested it might be a problem on the magazines' end and said I should call them.

Yeah, because two completely unrelated magazines are likely to screw up my address, which they've gotten right from the day I subscribed to them, IN THE VERY SAME WEEK.

I figured there was no point calling EW, but I called RWA. They were very understanding and will be happy to send me a replacement copy--only I have to wait until 5/15 just as a matter of policy, so they're not constantly sending out new copies to people whose originals were slightly delayed.
