Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

My mamaw used to make Burnt Sugar Cake: [link] One of these days I have to try it myself.

I just had a handful of cajun-spiced pecans (that's pik-AHNs, dammit). Not dessert, but yummy nonetheless.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

One time, I had a large slug fall of the roof and entwine itself in my hair. (I was reading outside.) I reached up to brush hair back and thought "How did I get gum stuck in my hair?" until it started squirming. I shrieked and started batting desperatly at my head till it plopped out. Still screaming, I ran into the kitchen, got the salt and poured about a pound of it on the hapless slug, whilst shouting "Die, bastard slug, DIIIIEEEE!" and dancing about in an agony of revulsion.

Favorite desserts:

Tiramisu

Creme brulee

Homemade vanilla ice cream rolled in cocoa and topped with Kahlua.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I don't have one favorite dessert, but among the top tier is the first cake on this page: [link]

This is where flea and Mr. flea's wedding cake came from, IIRC, though they didn't get the Opera Cream Torte, which is my favorite. It's amazing.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Sorry to go back to the spiders, but at least it shouldn't make anyone hungry!

The apartment in Berkeley was rather spiderful. The apartment in San Francisco, NSM, which is unfortunate, because instead we have mosquitos. Nasty little fuckers. Them, I kill, in the firm belief that it's not only not bad luck, but that every mosquito dead by my hand is another jewel in the crown I'll wear in heaven. Nasty little fuckers.

This is exactly the reason I generally don't kill spiders. They eat mosquitos and mosquitos are EVIL.

All the talk of Allyson's loot makes me feel a little guilty for not doing anything for our "administrative professionals." But our only actual secretary is on vacation. The rest of our paraprofessionals are not so much administrative, plus, we are bringing them (and us) the fixings for floats on Friday. Does that make up for things?

I'm firmly with ita on the desserts. There are too many wonderful ones for me to choose. I'm definitely fickle when it comes to desserts. However, there is a restaurant here that serves Interstellar Chocolate Love Cake, which is truly amazing.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I've had some really great desserts in my time but my favorite is my brother's home-made apple pie, still warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My boy can cook!

Oh, and Congradulations Burell!!

I'm getting a sugar headache from all this dessert. I kinda miss when I had a tolerance for it, Back then, I had the best ice cream in rural Russia- tasted like it was some sort of nut ice cream, with no chunks. Light, not rich, very refreshing. There was a place in prague where I used to get similar fruity sorbets in wee little scoops in a tall glass. And a tom collins.

Now just give me a tart or tangy fruit with minimal sugar syrup and I'm happy.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Dessert: creme brulee. Preferably with berries around the top. Except for the times when only chocolate will do.

As to bugs, am I the only one who's superstitious about crickets? Couldn't kill one if my life depended on it. Not sure why.
