I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don't think I know how to respond to that.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

My response it to hope it's on opposite some show I want to watch, so as to lessen the chance of any schedule conflicts.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Oh, yay:

I think you mispelled "Oy vey" there.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Me, I threw up in my mouth a little.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm hoping something shiny distracts him long enough for them to hire someone else to write/direct.

If I'm in shock, someone should really bring me some hot tea.

Art Crawl!!!

And did we post about the stuntcasting in The OC yet?

George Lucas. . . as himself.

Also, I didn't know that "The Dresden Files" were in development for Scifi.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Was the particular virgin Greek Orthodox?

Actually, the chances were 50-50, because Yugoslavia is mixed. I think she did end up being Catholic, but don't remember, since we found a whole book on her. It was just the "Virgin of Methagorgeous" brain-to-computer translation that was problematic.

And in other "I found it for her" news, my mother just called me up because her google wasn't working. She says, Which Chandler was it that was friends with the poet Tish, and was depressed, and a drunk? Not Raymond Chandler. Wild googling and guessing on my part ensued, and it developed that she meant Raymond Carver. Luckily, I am a good guesser, because I've never read a word he's written.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Random question. If you were going to spend 3 weeks looking at magical realism, what books would you teach together. Pick 3. And, ftr, it can't be all Garcia Marquez.

Ooh, I love this question.

The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende
1000 Years of Solitude by Marquez
The Mistress of Spices by Chitra Divakaruni

And I'd throw some poetry by Neruda in the mix, maybe. And a short story by Charles de Lint.

Will you be teaching this, Kat? I'd love to know how it works out.
