Beej, it's because you have my PMS that you have direct access to my brain. (If there's anything you can do while you're in there to boost the math section, I'd be much obliged....)

I wonder if Jung had anything to say about the universal collective pms-iness.
And because I'm just that hormonal, I had an image flash across my mind of you and I stepping into that silvery river thing that Odo needed to return to on occasion. Jeez. I'm hallucinating.
Must be the entire packet of dill pickle potato chips I just devoured. ::wimper::
Jeff! So good to see you here again. Restricting fluids when living in Florida sounds tough to me.
I don't have it as tough as others, and you do get a little compensation for sweat, but it is a bit tough. I sometimes obsess over it, and I'm always on the search for that perfect thirst quencher (and I now need it to be relatively sugar-free). I've learned how to handle it in the past, though, and I'm able to get along pretty well. Certain types of gum work pretty well (but others only make it worse).
Of course you are right libkitty. I'll bet DC Library does have books on tape. My local branch is on the sad side, but I'll bet I could get some sent over from the MLK branch.
I've, sadly, never taken the DC library seriously. Plus, my poor impulse control makes me impatient for inter-branch transfers. But. Since I respect the existance of the library, I should support it by using it. Thanks for the reminder.
We have a big books on tape store that has both rentals and purchase options. I couldn't get into them though. A page turner at heart.
Jeff, hopefully working for a hospital = good insurance. Your science background must be a big help in disgesting your medical records and making sense of them. I always got copies of the records (for family) and followed along as best I could. It's the only way you get the full picture.
Were you able to see the last new Lost episode? If not I can pop it in the mail to you. This week seems to be a recapping episode.
Having stuff from the library delivered to my chosen branch is my all-time favorite thing of the library. Whenever I think of something specific I want, I can put it on hold on line, and then they email me when I can come get it. It's FABULOUS -- I don't have to run all over town looking for specific books I want.
My carpool buddy and I are listening to the Lemony Snicket books on tape. The first two were narrated by Tim Curry, and now we're on the third one, which is narrated by Mr. Snicket himself. I think I prefer Tim Curry for entertainment value, but Daniel Handler Lemony Snicket has a very sweet, soft voice that's pleasant to listen to. Plus, the Gothic Archies (Stephin Merritt side project) do little snippets of music on the tapes. Very cool.
Jeff, may you have a quick and easy recovery! I'm glad to know that you're on the mend now.
I do get a tad pushy on this subject, I know. I don't mean to browbeat; I just can't seem to help myself on this one. You should do whatever works best for you, Beej. If the free alternative works, great! If not, don't beat yourself up over it.
If you do want to use your library, Beej, I see that the DC Public Library uses the same catalog as we do, and I'd be happy to help. I have some tips for how to get a listing of all of the items in the format you want, such as DVDs, CDs or tapes.
Hey Jesse, I mentioned this last night, but I was at a wedding literally around the corner from your old apartment this weekend! I felt all cool because I knew where the good bagel place was.
libkitty, I am just a library patron, but I feel free to go on and on to all and sundry about the amazements of the library. Free video rental, free books to read, all kinds of free stuff! LOVE IT. I was just trying to get my grandmother to see if there are any programs she'd be interested in at our local library, since she can't drive all the way out to the fancy suburb where she'd been taking classes at a senior center anymore.
