'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Hammocks are nice. Every year I say I'm going to get one for the backyard....

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Happy birthday, Sheryl!

I'm downloading mp3's of educational songs from the 1950's, including the original "Why Does The Sun Shine?"

I just wish the guy who encoded them had put each album in a zip file, or at least its own folder, so I wouldn't have to download them one at a time.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Skippy skippy to share in the dread that was 80s fashion. Here are a few of my highlights:

  • White calf-high leather boots with fringe up the back decorated with cutouts and silver studs (oy)
  • A matching big ass white leather belt with silver studs (even then my friends knew it was bad - they called it my Wonder Woman belt)
  • White peg-leg pants with a black and gray paisley print
  • Jeans with yellow paisley-printed fabric sewn into the knees and the up-turned cuffs at the bottom (I had these on layaway and saved and saved to buy them - I loved them so much)
  • Spiral perm with teased bangs (but not those hair sprayed to death monstrosities some had)
  • I didn't have this but my cousin likes to remind me of my desire to own a gold lame (forgive me, I don't know how to make the ' appear) button-up shirt just like Janet Jackson wore in the What Have You Done for Me Lately video for the first day of 10th grade

Our wings are not tired.

I'm feeling grateful my teens were in the 60's.

GC, I'd love to see pictures.

GC, I'd love to see pictures.

When the discussion was happening, I was thinking how hysterical it'd be to set up a site somewhere to share photos. So, I'll show you mine if you show me yours...

What is even happening?

Also mildly annoyed that department stores seem to have stopped carrying cheap folding plastic lounge chairs. I want to get something to lie on so suntanning won't involve a reinactment of Leiningen versus the Ants, but I'd really prefer to avoid paying $200 for some piece of non-collapsible furniture that I don't have room to store.
Matt, a sand chair might provide a solution, depending on how you feel about it. They're collapsable, and sit very close to the ground. There are only two sections to them--one for your back, and one for your butt (plus arm rests). However, if you get one of the ones that are fully adjustable, such that they do open up flat, they're not that bad for lying on your stomach, either. You'd probably want to put a towel down for your feet. They're not as comfortable as the old chaise loungers, but I see them a lot more often, and they're pretty affordable.

Yay for beth sleeping!

I want to eat at Anne's, too.

Anybody seen Sahara? Are there bugs?

I finally watched Numbers. Enjoyed. And Lou Diamond Phillips needs to be on my TV more, and he needs to call me, as they say. Yep.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Oh my. Bad '80s fashion must have been in the Natter I skippity skipped. I had these the same as GC (I want to repress the rest so won't be making a list of my own):

White calf-high leather boots with fringe up the back decorated with cutouts and silver studs (oy)
White peg-leg pants with a black and gray paisley print
Spiral perm with teased bangs (but not those hair sprayed to death monstrosities some had)

Happy Birthday, Sheryl.
