No. You're missing the point. The design of the thing is functional. The plan is not to shoot you. The plan is to get the girl. If there's no girl, then the plan, well, is like the room.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Ooh! Do you have one of those super-wide black elastic belts that were so popular in the late 80s? They were 6-9" wide, and usually had some sort of odd metal clasps in the front. I've been searching *ages* for one.

I miss those! I had a friend who had one that laced up the front, and was closer to a foot wide. It was so effin' cool.

Does Lily have stripey tights yet? Cause she should.

I remember those worn with HUGE enamelled buckles. Some cloisonne. One I remember in particular was a huge butterfly. It looked like you'd puncture organs if you bent over.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Do you have one of those super-wide black elastic belts that were so popular in the late 80s?

Oh, god. I had a mini with one of these attached, but it was a teeny skirt, and as soon as I was over a size 2, it no longer fit. But I kept it forever because I loved the belting so.

Perkins, of course you miss us. It's weird that you're not waiting until you've left, but still.

Not yet, but she will when she's a little bigger.

Sigh. Must sign off--I booted the machine that's making weird sounds to post in Beep Me, and don't feel comfortable leaving it running until we figure out what's up with it.

Later, peeps.

Yep. If I could find that elastic, I'd make my own damn versions of them.

Does Lily have stripey tights yet? Cause she should.

Some of us are working on that.

What is even happening?

I will check through the boxes o' crap I have from my mother's house. I know I had one.

I may have used the teensiest bit of hyperbole. I have thrown away one or two things like, say, a really wide, stretchy belt. I don't remember what color it was. I think, perhaps, tan.

hides in shame

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Hivemind question: Does anyone know if Martinelli's sparkiling apple cider has a limited shelf life? I have 2 unopened bottles in my refrigerator that are probably about a year old. Should I just toss them, or see if I can give them away?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Most of my clothes in the eighties were hand-me-downs from my sister. So just about everything I wore was three years out of date super-trendy. One outfit I remember loving in third grade was neon green and white striped leggings and a t-shirt with a neon pink, orange, and green picture of a bicyclist, with "Tour de France" written in glitter. Worn with a neon pink hair bow, one pair each white and green socks (one foot had white then green, other foot had green then white), scrunched down, with purple high-top sneakers.

Just describing that is making me shudder.

And I just remembered hypercolor. I think I had two hypercolor shirts. One pink/purple and one orange/yellow.
