We had to wear dresses when I was in elementary school so when we could wear pants to middle school it rocked! I distinctly remember wearing brown cords with a tapestry belt, brown plaid shirt and earth shoes and being so, so in fashion.
the dialect coaches from the Wire... Sarameg, that is just the coolest. There are some impressive accents on there given the number of Brits in the cast. The Wire likes carrots, btw.
I'm so sorry grunge made your home its capital, Jilli.
It didn't know she was there, probably, or it would have come here. Someplace with Jilli has plenty of style already.

Flock of Seagulls, people!!! The high fashion was deliberately over the top, even if the watered down versions that real people wore were not.
Let's see. I mostly wore oversized shirts belted at the hips and leggings (not stirrup pants because they didn't fit my legs right). I occasionally did the skinny tie thing, too. And black boots. I've never owned so many black boots as back then.

There was a different name for them.
We called them "knickers" which made my visiting English cousins hoot with laughter when I told them my mom wouldn't buy me any.
