Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Someone just called to ask me how it is that I do my job. I've no idea how to respond.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

They did a bunch of tests yesterday and discovered that it's a mostly-water fluid. Mom's scheduled to be plumbed and drained tomorrow.

Thanks, Topic!Cindy and Jesse.

Allyson, I'd highlight the sacrificial goats and bloodrites.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Someone just called to ask me how it is that I do my job. I've no idea how to respond.

I suppose "It's a lot easier when I'm not being interrupted by stupid phone calls" is not a good idea.

Hope your mom's thing is nothing serious, whatever it is, Calli.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, yeah. That just means I have to go through them all. Ah well, I guess this is why they pay me the big bucks.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Hivemind question:

My Tivo is getting too full. The real issue here is we need to start archiving our Good Eats collection, but in the meantime I'm trying to clear space. These days, I rarely watch TV for long stretches of time--it's 15 minutes here, half an hour there--so I don't watch a lot of movies or drama, because I'll go for days between viewing sessions and lose track of the plot.

So, anyway, a little while back I had Tivo get two movies just because they featured a Secret Boyfriend of mine--Another Life, with Ioan Gruffudd, and Bravo Two Zero, with Sean Bean. But I've never gotten around to watching them, because all my limited long story commitment goes to novels these days.

So my question is whether either of these movies are worth it, either on their own merits or for Secret Boyfriend lust opportunities over and beyond ogling stills on LJ and on my desktop. (I have this glorious image of Sharpe standing next to a cannon looking cocky on the laptop desktop. t fans self )

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Allyson, I get a lot of what do you do?, and when I explain "The billing, plus all the HR stuff in the office and I'm building manager, so I handle ordering supplies and deal with the tenant, and I am editing the Employee Handbook" the response is usually a tentative "Oh. Do you LIKE that?"

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Yikes, Calli. I hope they figure it out quickly.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Calli, most common causes for ascites (fluid in the belly) are;

1) Liver disease
2) Kidney failure
(easy to detect in the lab through simple blood/urine test)
3) Right-sided heart failure

Good luck to your mom w/r/t the tests.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Dear Time Warner,

The ideal time to tell me that I've been in a discounted promotional package—a fact that was not made clear to me when I signed up—for the past year and that my cable charges will increase $20/month starting with my next bill is NOT:

a) two weeks after the the last of the shows I was buying premium channels for finishes its second and possibly final season (all the others having been cancelled already or grown so tiresome that I no longer care about watching them).

b) the day I've just used my tax refund in its entirety to pay credit card debt.

c) ever.

d) all of the above.

signed,

Ann, that's a ferret.

Susan, I'm not familiar with either of those movies. So can't help there, except to note that a number of Buffistas have fought for Sean Bean as SCB.

Is it time for your husband to take Annabel out for an afternoon (or morning, or evening) while you lounge with a decadent snack for a double feature?
