Good luck, Wolfram.
Ugh. Lunch break is over. Need to go back to work. So don't want to.

Along those lines, it's also possible Very Important People are about, and that Big Boss doesn't want them to get the erroneous impression that we aren't getting our work done because we're lazy.
I had a job where I was not allowed to read at my desk during lunch breaks, as they didn't want some exec to mistakingly think I was slacking.

I've had many temp jobs like this. (Fortunately, most of them didn't seem to realize the slacking potential of the internet.)

I wonder about that. Is it just too difficult to actually block properly, or are they just assuming a default loss of productivity (but increase in employee retention, I bet) and letting it slide?
In many cases, I think it's just a matter of appearance. It's harder to look busy when you're reading a book. But right now, I'm sitting at my desk typing. From the perspective of a Big Boss walking by, I look very productive.
I knew I would get in trouble by declaring that I don't get tired during the workday last week or whenever. I have been really lethargic and exhausted lately. I never get enough sleep but I've never felt this completely tired. What dread disease am I dying from? Need help.
Yeah, as long as I'm sitting somewhere where everyone can't see my computer screen, I always look like I'm working so hard!! Always sitting there, typing away!
Of course, when I was in cube with my back exposed, eventually people did ask me what was that website I was always on....

Compartment syndrome, leprosy and theoretically an infected haematoma were last up. Do they work for you? I may have something in a tick bite I can whip up for you.
I feel guilty if I work too far away from my computer. My cube is double sized, so I can scoot all the way to the end and do manual stuff, but it always feels like I look less industrious than when I'm composing a drabble, or whatever.
Don't forget hairy cell leukemia.
