Also, I plan on singing my children murder ballads during their formative years. "Poor Ellen Smith, how was she found?/ Shot through the heart, lying full on the ground."

I'm sure at one point I knew the words to all of them, since I was a counselor for a couple of years and led more singalongs than I could possibly count...
My co-worker has been playing streaming BBC radio, and today's selection was a segment of nothing but showtunes. I disgraced myself by knowing -- and singing -- all the words to "Almost Like Being in Love" from Brigadoon.
But, dude -- we did it in high school -- those lyrics are burned on my brain!
ya'll are making me laugh. I think morbid baby songs are funny. COME ON!
Neither of my parents sang very much, due to sever lack of ability. There was lots of music in the house, though. Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, Clancy Bros., Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, etc.
Singing mothers: My mom sang this little ditty to me and my brother when we were kids (and now she's singing it to her granddaughter, who is just fascinated by it):
Down in the meadow in an itty bitty pool
Swam three little fishies and a mama fishie too
"Swim" said the mama fishie, "Swim if you can"
And they swam and they swam all over the dam
Purses: I recently bought this Coach purse: [link] I loves it lots.

GC, my grandmother sang that to me all the time as well!

My mom sang that one too. Also, "I'm a little teapot" and "Good Morning, Starshine."
