DH sings "Anarchy in the UK" to our friends' daughter whenever we babysit her.

I think I may have to start singing "California, Uber Alles" to Emeline when I'm around her.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think it's "One" from Chorus Line.

Except for Hec, who also sings little improvised songs to wake Emmett up and get him to sleep and eat his cereal and take a bath and do his math homework and, well, really everything except baseball, because that would probably cause him to perish of terminal humiliation.

Huh. I don't even think about this but I do it fairly often, I guess.

Wake up! You grumpy pile of grouse!
Or I'll throw you right on out of the house
I'll grab your toes and toss you out
You'll wake up with a startled shout
And hit the ground and bounce along
And still be hearing me sing this song
Get up! Get up! Get up!

Usually while poking his butt and bouncing him under the covers.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

See, my first thought was "One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do..."

That's the one Aimee Mann covered in "Magnolia" soundtrack. I'm not so fond of the movie, but I love love LOVE that soundtrack. I had no idea it was on the X-Files soundtrack. Come to think of it, it's a good song for Mulder.

I think the battle in my head for the ultimate earworm has been won by the Chorus Line song. Damn, I've been in a snarly mood all morning, and that song is just way too perky for me to maintain "CRUSH! KILL!" mode.

Okay, that's pretty damned funny.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

The only thing I'm known to sing on a semi-regular basis to small children is the song Holly Hunter sings in Raising Arizona.

On rare occasions, I'll branch out to Moonshadow, but I generally try to avoid the whole singing bit.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

No one in my family is a morning person, so there was never singing in the morning. Mostly mumbling.

Our wings are not tired

Elton John also has a "One."

Actually, I think it might be "The One."

Oooh! And that's a creepy, old-timey "babies die a lot when medicine sucks" song, isn't it? I know there's a lot of death in that song, even though it's a VERY pretty tune.

....and now I'm GLAD nobody sang in my house in the morning!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Plei, weren't you scheduled for something important today? Or did I miss something or lose track of days?
