Stephanie, I say, go to the spa. Have fun. Go wild. Do something you would never ever ever do but secretly wish you would.

When my sister was pregnant, her doctor told her to give up sushi not only when pregnant, but also when she was nursing. Is that overkill?
From everything we've been told, including by the lactation nurses, your sister's doctor was on crack.
The problems with it in pregnancy, as I've been told, above and beyond the usual limiting of seafoods for mercury issues, have to do with nasty things that can pass through the placenta. Same thing with cold cuts.
Once you're placenta-free, however, sushi, cold cuts, soft cheeses, and rare meat are all back on the table.

My OB is Japanese. He thinks avoiding sushi while pregnant is overkill, so I say it's a-okay to eat while nursing.
I'm determined, come hell and/or high water, to have sushi before the end of the month. Even if we have to do it as take out, it will happen.
Don't worry, Plei. We will figure out a way for you to have sushi. If Pete & I have to bring it to you, we will.
Happy Birthday Stephanie!!
Damn!! I forgot to watch the first episode of Dr. Who.
Happy Birthday Stephanie! And you should definitely spend your birthday money on you -- a spa day sounds perfect.
Happy Birthday, Stephanie!!!
(That makes me feel like I'm talking to myself....)
Man, peoples! I just ate dinner and am full, but you're still making me want sushi!
Happy Birthday Stephanie!

They never told me to ban sushi, but the caffeine and booze rules held when nursing.
Ewww. I'm entering foods into FitDay, and one of the options in the list that comes up when you browse through the types of milk is "milk, human."
Very disturbing.
I really wish I was not flat broke, as I have been dying to try the things suggested in that "advanced sushi" article ita linked to way back when. I'd really love to give it a try some time, and be given the chef's best attentions.
