Ooh, the Insiders -- that's a good name.
Okay, if it couldn't be the Senators, then is should have been the Nationals.
When I saw something about a Nationals game on the scroll at ESPN2 it took me a second to realize that they meant the new team.

Yeah, Nationals does sound like the kind of name chosen because nobody hated it, as opposed to anyone liking it.
I won't get to see a lot of Mets games for at least the beginning of the season, because two of the cable companies here in New York are having a feud over how much one charges the other to carry the games.
I read a bit about that this morning. Whereas, last night's game was on Channel 14 broadcast in Boston, as well as ESPN2, while the cable channel NESN did everything but re-enact the play by play, in absence of having the actual game.
In other news, the movie Fever Pitch has reached new heights/depths of media saturation in the Boston market. Unfortunately, the whole movie is about die-hard Sox fandom, while anybody actually IN that fandom can tell you that a huge percentage of the die-hards are actually assholes. I suspect the locals who go to see it will be going for the glimpses of the players, and not for the actual characters in the movie.
they won't be able to replace Delgado's power with the Koskie and Hillenbrand signings.
OMG that's right you poor people get Hillenbrand. I'm so sorry. We got rid of him for a reason, you know.

At least it's not like our hockey team, which was chosen because EVERYBODY hated it. Bluejacket. What the fuck is a bluejacket??? *sigh*
Yeah, I'm still bitter that they didn't accept the ECHL team's offer of their name. The Columbus Chill is a lot better than the Columbus Bluejackets.
What the fuck is a bluejacket???
A yellowjacket that's cold?
Thanks for the recap, ita. You are right about the hot. EW had a spoiler about the Washington character that was also teh hot. Not as hot as a greased cage match, but still, hot.
A yellowjacket that's cold?
Nope. It's supposed to be connected to--get this--the CIVIL WAR. The mascot is a BUG wearing a Union Army hat. It ranks up there with the dumbest sports franchise of all time.
But it speaks to how desperate we were for any hockey.
And now we have none.
What the fuck is a bluejacket???
A yellowjacket that's cold?
See now, I thought it was one with some real hard luck:
My woman done left me
duh NUH nuh nuh
She took off my ring
duh NUH nuh nuh
My nest was whapped by some kid with a stick
An' I AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN'T GOT NO STING
OMG that's right you poor people get Hillenbrand. I'm so sorry. We got rid of him for a reason, you know.
Yeah, at least he's cheap, which is why the Jays got him. If he hits .300 with 15-20 homers again, he'll be worth what they are paying him.
And now we have none.
People are turning out in huge numbers for junior hockey up here. It's a sickness.
Bluejacket. What the fuck is a bluejacket???
Cash, did you grow up in Ohio? I can't remember. Because if you did, surely you were exhorted by every. single. history. teacher. you every had to go see the Bluejacket Outdoor Drama, because it is Part of Ohio's Rich History!
(For non-Ohioans and/or non-history buffs, Bluejacket was, essentially, a Dances-with-Wolves-type white guy who chose to live as a Shawnee Indian.)
t edit Though I don't get why the mascot is a BUG.
t edit yet again Heh -- this description from the Web site makes it pretty clear why the dude became a Shawnee: he HAD to change his name!
....the story of Marmaduke Van Swearingen a young white settler who left the society he was born to live his dream of becoming part of the Shawnee.
