I read about that in the LA Times this morning. Is it bad that I thought it was funny, in a Sweeney Todd kind of way?
"She was so emotionally upset once she found out what it was," Alexiou said. "She was vomiting."
Actually, I think vomiting is a fairly rational reaction to such a discovery.
Jon Stewart
reading from crib notes on the Da Vinci Code
on TDS tonight? Adorable!
Jon Stewart doing anything = adorable.
Joining sumi in the sap corner. Damn that ER.
Interrupting the JS love to say I'M AN AUNT. Little Io Elizabeth joined us at 8:56PM. Mummy and baby are doing fine, and she's beyoootiful. Maybe she can marry Allyson's nephew.
Oh! Congrats on Auntiehood! My advice is to spoil her ROTTEN. Yep. It is your sole purpose. Auntie buy.
Yay Vortex and little Io Elizabeth!
Congratlations, Vortes and Welcome Io!
Congrats, Vortex. Auntiehood is fun.
Hivemind (or maybe just ita):
I need to render a man unconscious, preferably in such a way that he'll be out cold for a few hours. Scenario is as follows:
R attacks A with intent to rape. A fights back as best she can, though she doesn't have the fighting skills to make up for her lesser size and strength. And I'm toying with upping the stakes by having R pull a dagger on A, but I'm afraid that might lessen the options open to our rescuer, J.
J is the one who gets the privilege of rendering R unconscious. J is unarmed, though R is distracted enough struggling with A that it's possible that J could take R's pistol and knock him on the head with it. Only it strikes me that'd be a stupid thing to do, because if J could secure the pistol, all he'd have to do to make R back off is point it at him. So J is going to have to do this barehanded. Unless of course he used a convenient found object like a rock or a piece of firewood. That could work. Assume J knows what to do with his fists, but doesn't have any special martial arts skills that'd be eye-rollingly unbelievable for an Englishman born circa 1784. How does he need to hit R to knock him out? What part of the head does the blow need to strike, could a well-thrown punch do it or would it need to be the rock/brick/log, etc.?
