In the book, the "bathtub" is definitely the size of a pool--he does a few laps before trying to figure out the egg clue. I'll have to go back and reread GoF, because I think I'm getting the movie versions all mixed up with canon, and that's not a good thing!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Ok - yeah. Now I remember that.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Matt, I assume the age difference thing between the actress playing Myrtle is one of them?

Oops, make that three levels. One, that this no-boundaries ghost that could pop out of any bit of plumbing unexpectedly was perving on Harry. Two, on a meta level that someone as young as Radcliffe had to act out that scene. Due to makeup and translucent CGI, I didn't even realize at the time that, Three, the Myrtle actress is years older than I am.

If I only had a brain...

My husband said that the adult woman in pigtails trying to look young screamed "imitation teenager porn" to him, which just added to the squick.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

To say nothing of Myrtle's voice. It helps you see her as a kid, sort of, but it also really, really enhances the creepiness. Couple that with some uncomfortable sexuality and you got the wiggins.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Perhaps Mike Newell was trying too hard to be like Alfonso Cuarón....

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That scene didn't bug me.

Except with Matt's first point where you wondered how to keep the skankier ghosts at bay.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What about the single sex schools (not sure why that's whitefonted) don't you understand, Debet?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Why they decided to do that. It makes no sense to have a single-sex school if its the only (or even the premiere) wizarding school in the country.

And I want there to be a justification if they're going to change something from the books. There are valid reasons to change some things (leaving out the whole Fleur's part Veela thing, for example), but I fail to see the reason for that.

Single sex schools are so common in the UK, though. I'm sure they didn't give it a second thought.

They weren't single sex in the books? I can never remember this stuff.
