Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Death of Blockbuster?
Just tell me where they bury it so I can dance on the grave clicking my Netflix rental and recently purchased DVDs together like castinets.
I get the impression that there's more than one mom and pop video rental operation that would gladly dance on Blockbuster's grave with you. I know many places went under because of them, but it seems that those that survived are now doing just fine, where Blockbuster is getting the crap kicked out of them, since mom and pop shops and chains don't have the massive, bloated overhead Blockbuster is now drowning under.
Too bad the death of Blockbuster means that Wal-Mart has become the number one salesmaker for DVDs. I think I prefer Blockbuster.

Also, the places that have survived tend to stock more independent and foreign films -- the kind of stuff Blockbuster never bothered with in the first place.
