Just watched
Sin City.
Man, the hobbits kinda took it in the chops in this movie, huh?
Possibly the best movie adaptation of a graphic novel I've seen.
Funny moment: "Is the priest Ray Vecchio?" "No, but he looks really familiar." "He kinda looks like Frank Miller, actually." "Frank Miller played Ray Vecchio?"
Johnny Depp and some other people are back: direct link to a
Pirates of the Caribbean
trailer.
Saw
Chicken Little.
Also "eh."
Saw Pride & Prejudice....also eh. And in certain scenes feh.
Saw
Repo Man
for the first time in ages. Didn't seem to hold up as well as I thought it would. Miriam says that maybe one needs to be stoned to fully appreciate it. Or maybe it just doesn't seem as weird as it did in the '80s.
The life of a Repo Man is always intense!
...
Good evening Otto. This is Agent Rogers. I'm going to ask you a few questions. And since time is short and you may lie, I'm going to have to torture you but I want you to know it isn't personal.
Plate of shrimp.
I just saw
The Libertine.
REALLY badly directed. Murky, oddly paced, badly shot and the script really betrayed its former life as a play. Even the good performances of Johnny Depp and Samantha Morton could not make it worthwhile. My advice, buy the poster with the close up of both of their wonderful faces, for you will get more enjoyment out of looking at it than you will from the film.
What a lot of movie disapointment!
We saw Harry Potter again today - still fun!
Harry Potter is the only moving showing in Catalina, in a theatre that reputedly seats 1/3 of the island's population.
I think that's what folks are going to see today.
Robin--I'm so disappointed by
The Libertine.
It sounded perfect conceptually, for Johnny Depp to rock. I'm sad he didn't save it.
Casanova
sounds much lighter, but period wooing and Heath Ledger and probably much lower goals. I think I'll see that Christmas day if I see anything.
I'm anxiously awaiting
King Kong.
