It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Do we know about Shopgirl ? (warning: that page has sound) Steve Martin, Claire Danes and Jason Schwartzman.
Based on Steve Martin's bestselling novella, "Shopgirl" is a funny and poignant story of love in the modern age. The film catches a glimpse inside the lives of three very different people on diverse paths, but all in search of the same thing.
I know that I've seen the trailer several times, and have been intrigued by it each time. Mostly because I dig Claire Danes, but Steve Martin, when he's being calm, is an interesting factor too.
I've seen the trailer. Looks like Steve expanded Jeremy's role for the film to make it more of a love triangle. The book was heartwarming, if a bit intensey looking-out-from-inside. Might give it a watch.
I think my favorite Steve Martin performance was in Roxanne; it had enough of the standard Martin schtick but was offset by both his quiet moments, and the whackiness was dispersed amongst the other townfolk.
"Aliens, right here! And they want to have sex with older women because, and I quote, 'They really know what they're doing."
"Oh, we do!"
"It's been so long!"
"Girls, do you really believe that aliens are here just to have sex with old women?! ... Let's go check it out!"
Do we know about Shopgirl ?
We know about it in the bay area because apparently the book was inspired by Steve's relationship with an actual local shopgirl, and they revealed her name.

Huh. That would explain a lot about what I disliked about that book.
Interesting--Howard Shore just got released from King Kong. Jackson says it was an amicably made mutual decision.
But, but, but... Golfing with gardening implements!
I liked it, but not enough to own it. I think golf is just too mainstream of a sport for it to hit all my sports comedy kinks.
You know, I'm totally the type who'd read OSQ on the sly, were OSQ a real thing.

Yep. I loved the book, and I'm not sure about the movie. There's a free preview I can go to next week, but I'm debating whether or not to go, since it's on Wednesday.
