I'm a vision of hotliness, and how weird is that? Mystical comas. You know, if you can stand the horror of a higher power hijacking your mind and body so that it can give birth to itself, I really recommend 'em.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Love the camera view from above as they swirl over the dance floor

That shot reminds me of Moulin Rouge.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I can't wait for new Wallace & Gromit. I need to make Dave watch the older ones before Curse of the Were-Rabbit comes out.

Is Mirrormask based on a novel by Gaiman or did he just write the screenplay?

He wrote the screenplay w/ Dave McKean.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

"They're the wrong trousers, Grommit!" I love The Wrong Trousers, especially the penguin as criminal mastermind (see? Not all penguins are cute and cuddly!).

Oooh! Desk Set is on TMC! It might actually be my favorite Hepburn/Tracy movie.

Thanks, Jilli.

I love "A Close Shave", I think it's called. So funny. We watched them on my first trip to England.

Thanks for the heads up. I think it is my favorite too, although it is hard for me to chose.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Fans of pretty boys in eyeliner and heels should keep an eye out for Breakfast on Pluto, Neil Jordan's latest (comes out Nov 18). It's both incredibly precious and heartbreakingly sincere, and Cillian Murphy is just amazing. He completely disappears into the role.

I was especially amused by Stephen Rea's character, who this time gets to say to the transvestite lounge singer "Oh don't worry, I know you're not a girl."

Batman Begins fans will also enjoy Liam Neeson's character.

"Be careful. Be careful. You're in the major leagues here." One of my favorite lines in desk set. Probably doesn't hold up on its own though.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

That huge speaker for the victrola at the dance lesson!

See now that pisses me off. There is no dance lesson in the book. Why add something new, when there is already so much that will have to be excised to make the story fit the confines of a Hollywood movie?
