The Wire is some of the most brilliant TV ever made.
Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
C'mon, you know The Ig's only five foot one, Frank. But he's doing all the things a five foot one man can do.
It's in my Netflix queue. I'll probably post with much squeeing in LJ as I watch.
Although Erika, Robin, and I have been praising it to the skies, I caution you to give it time to develop before you throw the switch one way or the other. Some local friends called me after the third episode to say that I was crazy, nothing was going anywhere, and what's the point of all this? I asked them to stick with it. They called me after the last episode of the 1st season to tell me that it was the best show they'd ever seen.
The Ig's only five foot one
*smacks forehead* D'oh!
I never, ever thought to take that literally. Why not? I have no idea.
Oh, I don't think it's literal. I think he's a bit taller than that. But not much.
Oh, yeah, mos def.(As an Arizona city girl who is paler than Spike, I get a lot of looks for this usage in meatspace, but it's a habit now, mos def. ) Writers usually like it except the cyclist who doesn't watch TV...he found it like watching grass grow and my coercion...uh, friendly persuasion has fallen on deaf eyes. Mom just shakes her head at me about The Baltimore Thing now.
My 76-year-old Midwest-raised Mom thinks it is the best thing ever written. During the worst of her chemo last year, Season Three was one of her few bright spots.
I think he's a bit taller than that.
Maybe he is only five foot three
And girls could not resist his stare
Or...that's a different David Bowie association.
That one's more Jonathan Richman and John Cale in my mind.
Well, yeah, Robin, suppose almost anything looks better after Hamsterdam. Bunny Colvin, '08
For me it's more...crap, who did it on the Repo Man soundtrack? The Burning Sensations or something?
But, proving that I can connect any dots, Iggy Pop did the Repo Man theme song, and hey! Repo Man = a movie! So back on topic.
(post-google edit: yep, Burning Sensations. I can remember THAT, but not that I left something on the stove.)
