This LJ piece [link] is a very long explictoration [sic] of the Willy Wonka movie. Reminds me of the kind of analysis I used to eat up about Buffy. Search on the word "children" to get to it, it starts in the middle.
Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Orlando's Elizabethtown accent is just a touch better than Hugh Jackman's X-Men accent. This was all I could think about while I watched. I'm like the guy you take into your parlor to see how well you decorated it who's looking for the wallpaper seams.
A few weeks ago I watched Bride and Prejudice and had to do a double take when I heard Naveen Andrews speaking because he sounded exactly like Orlando Bloom in LOTR.

What did you think of it? I thought it was OK. Whatshername (Aishwarya Rai) is really not an actress. Yes, I agree, she is absolutely gorgeous, but she seems to have only 3 expressions - coy seductive, peeved seductive, and blank. Which I guess is 1 more than most Hollywood starlets, so, yeah for that. Also, the main guy (Martin Henderson) should have been played by a Wilson.

Me too. It was a neat story and had fun songs ("No live, without wife"!) but for some reason it didn't draw me in. It felt so cut up and jarring.

I think anyone besides Henderson would be good. He didn't seem to fit the role very well and didn't appeal to me in any way. A Wilson would have definately been a better choice.
The Wilsons have a stealthy charm.
Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle = teh funny.
At least, at 2am it is.
Also at 10 PM, or whenever I saw it. Fucking hilarious.
"Daddy is not coming on anything."
I about pissed myself.
Also, Kumar = kinda hot.
I thought Bride & Prejudice was fairly crappy, but I enjoyed it anyway. I did like how closely it mirrored the storyline of P&P, and I'm a sucker for pretty much anything about India. But yeah, the songs weren't very good (and there weren't enough of them!), and the main actors weren't up to the task.
