I haven't seen the third one yet (A MIGHTY WIND) even though I own it.
The best part in it (for me) is when the theatre liason finally snaps. I may have overidentified a wee bit.
"Yes, it's perfectly fine. You know, I really don't have time to explain Stagecraft 101. This show starts in an hour."
I think that's why I like Waiting for Guffman the best. It's full of musical theater jokes.
And I'm a dognut...so....
Slightly off topic....
Did I just understand my TV correctly? Are they bringing back Kolchak: The Night Stalker with Stuart Townsend in the titular role?????
I don't know which is funnier - that somone thought it would be a good idea to bring it back, or that Stuart Townsend thought taking the role would be a good idea.
I was gonna say -- I'm sure your enjoyment of the Guest movies is heavily related to which world(s) you know best.
Best Guest movie? Well, of the modern ones, Best In Show. But, for me there's no beating This Is Spın̈al Tap.
Spinal... Pap?
I haven't seen TiST in age. Methinks I should own that one.

I'll take Stuart Townsend any day over Darin McGavin.
So I need to buy
Say Anything,
then? 'Cause, er, I haven't seen it.
Um.
I've seen Point Break almost as many times as I have Dirty Dancing
Aw,
Point Break!
Man, I remember slashing that before I knew that slash existed! Watching it with 2 girl friends and one (gay) boy, and all of us yelling encouragement to the boys while they wrestled in the surf and exchanged long eyefucks. "It's not about the waves, it's about the energy." or something like that.
Man, though, there's some lovely cinematography in that film. The skydiving sequence makes me want to jump out of a plane. In a good way.
Turns out Kevin Spacey really is the inheritor of Gene Hackman's movie estate. You'll do a double-take at the resemblance. Lex!
