It's been a movie already with a Hornby-penned screenplay.
I saw that at the IMDB.
Colin Firth is completely fucking adorable in it.
I must see it!!!!

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

They filmed for a while in Boston mid-season, you know, stuff at Fenway before and after games. I think several players got on the "acting" bandwagon as well, and will show up in the promo stuff. (Bleah!)
Speaking of going from the field to the screen, five of the Sox (Varitek, Wakefield, Mirabelli, Millar, and Damon) all got makeovers for a special ep of QEftSG. [link]
Well, I would say that soccer is the European/rest-of-world version of sports agony, but I have never even seen a soccer movie and thus could not tell you a thing about how it shows up on film.
(FTR, football fans trump them both, or anyway, baseball fans only turn out when it's sunny and hopefully warm, whereas football fans think nothing of bounding about in body paint and a giant cloth diaper in the depths of a Green Bay January.)
Only soccer film I've ever seen was the really bad WWII-era Sly Stallone one (Victory, IIRC). Even on a big screen, it was baaaaad.

I saw that in the Globe. New definition of "When worlds collide," or anyway, I don't know if I want to know who on my sports teams has back hair and who doesn't.
Could be worse. Schilling could be talking politics again. Or one of them might want to start a singing career!!
Sometimes, cross-marketing is just a Bad Idea.
DH loves Victory. He makes me watch it whenever it come son TBS or whatever.
There's some wacky buddhist monk soccer movie out there, but I haven't seen it.
I have never even seen a soccer movie

HAH! I loved it too!!!! I was really into WWII-set movies when I was in junior high. I probably haven't seen it since I saw it in the theatre though.
Bend it Like Beckham!
Actually, you know, I have seen parts of this movie. I just managed somehow not to see a single part that involved soccer.
