I, for one, wasn't looking forward to starting my day with a slaughter. Which, really, just goes to show how much I've grown

Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Your tag here.

I walked out of Sin City halfway through it. It was overly violent for violence's sake and just a bit too negative for me. I couldn't get emotionally invested in Marv's crusade. I guess that's about all I can say on the subject, considering I didn't see the entire film.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight. Lots of fun and better than I thought it would be. Depp's character choices looked a bit sketchy in previews but worked in the context of the film. Visually breathtaking, (of course, it's Tim Burton, how could it not)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

List of films ordered by uses of the word "fuck".

Surprisingly, neither Tarantino nor Mamet are in the top 10.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Nil by Mouth was so depressing I didn't even note the massive use of the f-word.

Compassionately intolerant

Nil by Mouth

Made me want to open a vein. Seriously.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just had Nil By Mouth recommended to me, with the caveat that I don't name the recommender in any ensuing suicide note.

Way to go to pique a girl's interest.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

It amuses me that THE BIG LEBOWSKI made the top 10. Heh.

information libertarian

Someone needs to rank the top 100 movies that use the word "dude." Would Bill and Ted win? Or Dude Where's My Car?

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

3 British films in the top 10. Good effort.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

It's a good thing for those films that Deadwood doesn't count.
