So was I the only one who went Liam Neeson is Ra's Al Ghul? WTF? I thought Ra's was actually Asian?
Cause again, might be an "I don't know the comics" thing. But it truly boggled me for about two minutes.
'The Killer In Me'
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I kinda' liked the new Batmobile before I saw the movie, but now I want one of my own.
Woudln't be the first time people accuse me of owning a tank, though.
I just hope the Batmobile model and Batsuit are still at the Toys R Us by the time I actually make it down there. That shit was so hot.
Ailleann, no, I did that too. It boggled me for the rest of the movie, actually, until my friend explained that Ken Watanabe was only a figurehead pretending to be Ra's Al Ghul (who is Egyptian, not Chinese). I was confused because I thought the "dual identity" comment was about some sort of magic, and we'd seen Ra's and Ducard in the same place at the same time. But now it makes sense.
That's made up for this movie, though, right? (Dorkiest part of the evening last night: Discussing what in the movie was "real" and what wasn't.)
I think so, Jesse, but I'll let the experts give the details. Because I remember earlier, people had mentioned Henri Ducard as a specific character all his own.
Even on IMDB, they are listed as two separate characters. All I remembered was the Ra's from the cartoon (where it was pronounced "Raish", which kept throwing me off too), and I was pretty sure he wasn't some Irishman.
That's why it's a twist.
Yeah, the Henri Ducard IS Ra's Al Ghul! thing is different from the comics, but I still thought it worked pretty well.
I won't post my long-ass, gushing review here, just the link to my LJ entry, should anyone care to read it.
Alexis Bledel, so very not.
Agreed.
All this whitefont is tempting. I should avoid Movies until I see Batman, huh?
