I've got two words that are going to make all the pain go away. Miniature Golf.

Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Even the lyrics sung by the trusty Oompa Loompas are taken straight from Dahl's classic.

Is it a bad sign that I really want to know what these Oompa Loompa lyrics are?

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Corwood, babe, breaking genre "restrictions" to watch "The Wild Bunch" next week. Between y'all and David Simon, I had to, you know...it's a Wirehead thing. If I hate it, you'll get the hate mail, ok?

I'm used to it. FWIW, The Wild Bunch is also one of Joss Whedon's avowed favorite movies, too.

Always Anti-fascist!

Huh...is it something you have to have a penis to appreciate? Because I want to change my life, just not that much. Although I do like plenty of "guy" movies, more so the older I get, and the less I want to watch some chick's mom die. See, there's me, being snarky, from the Greek for "butthead".

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Unlike the 1971 Gene Wilder film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, based on the same book, which featured psychedelic elements in its adaptation

I dare anyone to watch the trailer with the song in it and tell me that the new version is devoid of psychedelic elements.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Huh...is it something you have to have a penis to appreciate?

It is deeply steeped in testosterone. But mostly it's about honor and friendship and sacrifice and fucking up. Which are not exclusive to penis-wielders.

So Klingons would like it?

Do Klingons admit to fucking up?

Are they even powered by testosterone? I think they have special Klingosterone which is an order of magnitude more potent.

They need Picard around to tell them they fucked up first.

Oh, yeah, fairly universal-type stuff, only the YaYas did it with paper crowns on their heads, iirc. I'm teasing, a little. Don't wanna think about Klingosterone, although it's fun to type, but, just...no.(Although with this tag can't throw geek stones. Damn it.)

I'm pleased that they included The Singing Detective on that list even though it's not actually a movie. It almost balances out my bewilderment at seeing E.T. in there.
