"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

If there is, he should commit hari-kari now before anyone can confirm the rumor.

hip deep in pie

Any cred to the rumor that Tom Stoppard helped write the screenplay for ROTS?

That sounds like a sarcastic joke more than anything.

move out and draw fire

So, standard Lucasian fare, then, huh? I saw the rumor in the New York Times review...probably what happened was that Lucas faxed Stoppard the treatment and offered a million dollars if Stoppard would screenwrite. Stoppard's response was probably something about all the tea in China.

Or, you know, maybe he did help out. Maybe in response to the fax, he sent back an edited version with the note "I was never involved in this, but here's a freebie" and all Jar-Jar's scenes cut out.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Or else he changed all of Jar-Jar's dialog to nothing but profanity.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That'd be if Mamet was writing it.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

It is apparently accepted as Star Wars canon that the Rebel Alliance was in its beginning stages in Episode IV. Lucas reportedly decided against creating the Alliance in Episode III for that reason

Oh NOW he gives a fig about continuity?

Good call t golf claps your super hero space princess has turned into a whiner who brushes curly hair.

I mostly enjoyed it. I've forgiven Lucas a lot -- now it's more like he felt-up my childhood memories. But I can see why Portman might be pissy.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they seem to be limiting it to one movie per director. It's interesting that they chose The Purple Rose of Cairo, Yojimbo and Dr. Strangelove as their picks.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

They said something about having two Billy Wilder movies on there.

Edit: And there were definitely two Kurosawa movies on there. Yojimbo and Ikiru.

If I only had a brain...

Stoppard is a script doctor. He does it for money, as do several other established writers. Carrie Fisher is one of the most sought-after script doctors in Hollywood.
