Spike: At least give me Wesley's office since he's gone. Angel: He's not gone. He's on a leave of absence. Spike: Yeah, right. Boo-hoo. Thought he killed his bloody father. Try staking your mother when she's coming on to you! Harmony: Well…that explains a lot.

Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am so psyched for Mr. And Mrs. Smith.

I'm all over that one.

Kingdom of Heaven and Monster In Law were all over the place too.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

The only movie this summer I'm looking forward to is Howl's Moving Castle, which I haven't seen any publicity for.

Oh, HELL yeah. New Miyazaki!

If I only had a brain...

Apparently many of Padme's scenes hit the cutting-room floor.

[link]

ALL of the dialogue and scenes regarding the creation of the Alliance to Restore the Republic is gone. All of it. Even things I saw included in footage shown at CIII. Rick said when we were in the "Spectacular" footage thing that they had to hack another 15 minutes and here's where it got cut. It's a damn shame. In hacking all this, Lucas removed three of Bail's scenes and the majority of Padme's subplot that makes her more than an oblivious wife whose conversations with her husband go, shockingly, like an episode of the anime Inuyasha:

Is it just me, or has the wild Summer Movie Extravaganza (which has started, in the past, as early as May 1) been kind of subdued?

I'm already sick of the ads for War of the Worlds because they are on all.the.time. Besides RotS, I think that this is supposed to be the other summer blockbuster. I'm looking forward to Batman very much, but other than those I can't think of anything that's supposed to be BIG this summer, but that could be lack of sleep talking.

I think we're going to see Madagascar, 'cause we've got kids but I don't even remember the previews that we got when we saw RotS.

ETA: That's a damn shame about those scenes Betsy. They would have made the movie more watchable for me and made an even bigger connection to Leia's actions in Star Wars.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I may have a year ago - Stephanie Romanov is a costar.

Worth watching?

Ann, that's a ferret.

I guess I have seen ads for Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

There's one prominently pasted on the wall of the Metro station nearest to work. I'm very aware that a movie by that name opens 6/10. Not aware of anything about it, unless it's intended to be a Thin Man-type flick.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Dear George Lucas,

Creating rebel alliance = good. "No, it's because I'm in love with you" = bad. Please make a note of it.

Kthxbye

I'm also looking forward to Mr & Mrs Smith. Bring on the sexy fighting!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

But Batman Begins and RotS are everywhere. Madagascar, Mr & Mrs Smith, Bewitched, The Island, War of the Worlds-- we're running out of weekend to contain the onslaught of advertising overkill. I'm just surprised that Stealth is seemingly underpromoted right now, but maybe they don't want to spoil momentum.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I haven't seen anything for The Island, and I want to. Okay with missing out on Bewitched, and wish there were less Madagascar.

Fred -- Mr & Mrs Smith has Brad and Angelina beating the everloving tar out of each other. Looks like fun.
