I know, I know. I really must correct this soon.

Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I don't know why GC's surprised. When did I see Casablanca???
t still need to come to watch To Have and Have Not
We have so many movies, it isn't even funny. The GF has a movie illness (a DVD illness, to be more precise since we have TV shows like crazy, too). This weekend we watched Gentlemen's Agreement with Gregory Peck (yum) and Public Enemy with James Cagney.
I finally got my Amazon delivery--all musicals, all the time! I got the boxed set of all the "That's Entertainment!" movies, the two-disc SE of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," and the boxed set of Classic Musicals, including "The Band Wagon," "Easter Parade," "Brigadoon," "Bells Are Ringing," and "Finian's Rainbow." Add in the CD of The Planets, and I still only spent just over $100. Not too bad!
BRIGADOON!
"They're all about honor."
BRIGADOON!
Jeff is one of my all-time favs for humorous sidekick, and Van Johnson is perfect for the part. The scene in the NY bar after they come back from Scotland is a stitch:
Bartender: Your tab, sir, is very high.
Jeff: So am I!!
Loved Van Johnson. Great actor.
I always felt sorry for poor Jeff, all left out when Brigadoon "closed"...
BRIGADOON!
Seconding the above, but for my money, "Almost Like Being in Love" will always be Gene Kelly's finest hour.
I realize this makes me a heretic.
