Did Johnny Depp reallly write that article in The Onion? Because if so, I am now so in love that I may faint.
I just assumed it was fake. It's the Onion.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

No. Also, Sting didn't really write the article they once ran, "You Know, I Used To Be Cool Once."
The Onion AV club is straight up, but that doesn't seem to be AV.
AFAIK The Onion has never had a guest writer. They've also never published a letter to the editor.
But they do real stuff in the AV club, whcih is why I was wondering.
At first I thought that was an AV Club article, because the logo looked a little large. But they have different hosts.
I misunderstood; I thought it was an interview like the one with Joss. My bad.
I was kinda thinking that it might be not-real, because why on earth would he bother to mention getting his head shaved in preparation for playing Hunter S. Thompson without mentioning the coolest part, which is that he actually got his head shaved by Hunter S. Thompson?
Whoa. (Depp respect becomes stratospheric)

It was after a weekend of drunken/chemical bonding with Hunter, which culminated in the headshaving as a ritual/blessing. Done poolside, as I recall.
That noted, I prefer Bill Murray's Hunter in Where The Buffalo Roam though it is, in most other ways, an inferior movie.
