Teppy is wise. No comments period, or maybe redirect all comments to a separate discussion thread well away from the actual review, where the other moderators can moderate the shit out of it and Mark can just completely ignore it all for at least a few days.
It sucks because some of the commenters are really smart and thoughtful and spicy-brained, but the shitstorm is just guaranteed to be so epic, bile-filled and distressing and nobody needs either a repeat or, God forbid, an escalation of the previous shitstorm.
Mark is prepared. He's going to be more active in the comments and has various pages to link to.
I admire him, and the rest of you moderators. I wouldn't want to deal with the comments on that episode.
Along with his gifs and all-caps Muppet-arms glee, Mark also has a gift for the occasional totally off-kilter understatement. From his review of "Forgiving" (the Holtz-kidnaps-Baby-Connor episode):
My god, I really hate Holtz now. He’s so gross and inconsiderate!
It's weirdly endearing.
P-C,
I removed my self from most of the commenting shitstorm around the 'net (some kind of way, I don't know what the hell was going on for me then), but from my recollection, the shitstorm was not a one week affair. "Seeing Red" through the end of the season was pretty much bad feelings-land.
People were still popping off about it during the final season up through and including "The Killer in Me."
The moderators may be making a long-term commitment to putting fires out, is all I'm saying. LIke more than usual.
A lot of people got banned in the "Smashed" shitstorm, so I'm hoping that may have quelled things.
Anymore I don't even read the comments. It's like the only people I trust on the Internet anymore are you guys.
Ahahahaha, someone in the comments pointed out that if Holtz taught Connor English, he should speak with a British accent. I never thought of that!
I don't think it works like that though does it? I suppose it might if Holtz was the only English speaker Connor was around ever, but accents are kind of tricky, so I'm not sure how we should expect Connor to speak.
Well, I assume he was the only English speaker Connor was around in Quor'toth. Are there other English-speakers there? I don't remember.
