Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Re: Mark watches. He and I aren't on the same wavelength, but he has gotten me to do an epic rewatch of Buffy and Angel, and I just finished S4 Buffy and S1 Angel. I forgot just how much HSQ was packed into To Shanshu in LA. Among other things: Angel Investigations getting blown up, Lindsey getting his hand cut off, and Darla getting raised. So great!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Oooh, good ep. I should rewatch.

And Wesley with it. I'm curious what Mark is going to make of him and his evolution.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

the LJ link Una posted is one i saw back when i first read the twilight books (and yes, i read them all. not like they were heavy reading or took a long time...) and is HYSTERICAL. Sparkle-peen, she gets it.

All this discussion is making me very happy that buffy S1 is free on hulu basic right now. i really need to get my sister to give me back my series dvds. Curse my good-heartedness in having the chose edition shipped directly to her so she could watch something decent while dealing with the horrors of being 15...gosh darn it, i want my Buffy and haven't even touched the box myself!

Angel Investigations getting blown up

Guys, last night, in the car on the way home, I heard Queen's "We Are the Champions," and I realized that after all this time, I *still* immediately think of Wes, Gunn, and Cordy singing it, every single time I hear it. Every. Time.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I *still* immediately think of Wes, Gunn, and Cordy singing it, every single time I hear it. Every. Time.

Of course. I assumed that this was normal.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

For some extrapolative reason, all Queen is a Highlander trigger for me. It's a bit cumbersome.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

but if someone you're responsible for thinks the Edward/Bella relationship is a template for normal or optimal behaviour, I think having an in depth discussion with them about it isn't out of line.

I think having an in depth discussion with your kids about the books they read (or the music they listen to, the way they want to dress, etc) is showing respect for their choices. As long as you don't call it crap.

I don't have any opinion on how the books were written, since I haven't read them. That's never been my point. However, the relationship that's exalted in the story, I do have more of an opinion on, now that I've seen some of it in action.

And *that's* what I'm talking about. Not "read better books" but "imprint on healthier interaction". It's a whole different thing.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Well, ita ! As of now, Mark actually is living the dream. Mark Reads/Watches is his full-time job. And ooh! That means that he will be watching Angel for the site, interspersed with Buffy.
