i've never heard that in all these years. doesn't mean it's not true, but yeah.
she wouldn't have been old enough for the movie, Tom. she was born in 78.
'Same Time, Same Place'
Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

I've never heard that either, and I was a big Dawson's Creek fan, too. Not saying it isn't true, but it seems like if it was, I would have heard it somewhere. Also, DC started before Buffy, I think, so she would have been booked already.
Also, I love Katie Holmes, and even like her as an actress, but that would have been horrible!

it premiered in 98. i remember these crazy things based on college. i watched the premiere in my boyfriend's dorm room.
This article I saw claimed she was offered the role and turned it down to finish high school. Then she got Dawson's when she graduated. I so can't picture her as Buffy.
ETA: This makes more sense (from her IMDB entry)
Auditioned for the role as Buffy Summers in the series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997), but was too young.
Oops. I watched Dawson's Creek before I watched Buffy, so I mixed them up!
Okay, I have a request from a friend, and the scene she mentions sounds vaguely familiar, but the bells aren't really going off. Anyone have any recollection of something like this:
I am just getting ready to teach an archives course , and was thinking of showing popculture archives clips now and then. I have a vague memory of what I think was a bit on Buffy, where someone (not sure WAIT, it's not BUFFY, it was on Dead Like Me!!! I think... Did you watch them? There is a scene where they visit an archives to get info on a death... I may still have the show wrong, dammit. And the main archivist is away, and the student is eating and drinking in teh Basement archives, and then they end up stealing the archival document.... does this ring a bell?
Was this on Buffy? Or does anyone watch Dead Like Me?
I have some vague memory of someone on Buffy stealing something from an archive, but I don't really remember anything specific.
There is a similar scene in Sarah Conner where Cameron takes donuts to the archival librarian.
I don't remember anything like that on DLM and I saw every ep. I don't think there is a DLM wiki about this.
I think there was reference to archives in the Charmed ep "ex libris" or something like that.
There's a cool music video that takes place in a library: Tears for Fears "Head over Heels" [link]
There is also a cool ep of Avatar that takes place in a library/archive/storage facility
you're going to laugh, but that actually sounds like an episode of Ghost Whisperer that i happened to see once.
Ooh, new cliched tv scene for the collection.
