Except that time she ditched him in the barn for the vampire hunters.
That was the conking on the head I was talking about. What Zenkitty said, really: if it's a choice between herself and Angel, she'll save herself. Just as Angel was willing to narc her out in "Heartthrob." And faux-Spike saw that as evidence that they didn't love each other, but their reaction when he was trying to goad them seemed more like, "Ah, yes. You betrayed me. I respect that. Good times."
It seems that Angel and Darla incorporated their evilness into all aspects of their lives, even their love for one another. Whereas the more floridly romantic couples like Spike & Drusilla and Elizabeth & James conducted their love affairs in a traditional sweet manner while reserving their evil behavior for everyone outside.
I think it's telling that once Darla was out of the pictur, Angel started applying that same sensibility to his gestures toward Drusilla, and she seemed to respond much more favorably to that than to Spike's schmoopier demonstrations of love.
I never wanted Angel and Buffy to be together as much as watching I Will Remember You
Oh, the heartache. Ohohohoh. I love that ep so much, just for the last two minutes.

Nick Brendon and Bradley Cooper. I can live with that.
I felt your heart. beat.
I sobbed long and hard on that line. I think it may be my favorite non-comedic line.

Can we sacrifice Elisabeth Rohm's to give NB and DB a fighting chance?
