Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

I hated Connor. from the moment he was born and Angel became so dorky i could barely stomach him to when he grew up and became a whiny bitch who didn't look like he could take SMG in a fight much less anyone else.
This is me (though I did like the unpsychotic version of him in Season 5). Combine that, unmaterialistic platitude-spouting Saint Cordelia, and pancake kisses and about the only things left for me to like were the animosity between Angel & Wesley and Holtz' interesting crew of villains that were trying to kill all the regular characters.
Seriously, if not for the fact that Tim and three other friends/friendly acquaintances of mine worked on the show behind the scenes, I would have dropped it like a hot potato well before "Provider." Though it was Joss that pulled me back into the fold by writing and directing a fairly good episode just as my tolerance reached the breaking point.
Gellar was doing Scooby Doo 2, which was already in production at the time of the Buffy wrap party. And I remember Whedon saying catty things about her. I do not remember her responding in kind. Generally speaking, I respect people who behave like professional adults.
But I'm also not sure why it matters. Even if she's rude or a nasty person, she's not being rude or nasty to me. All I ask is that the people who entertain me be, well, entertaining.
I've heard a set visit story that if verified as true would move me from thinking she's merely cool and distant to outright primadonna scum. But in terms of her work she almost always turns in a good performance and her professionalism is beyond reproach, even by co-workers and employers that don't seem personally fond of her.
primadonna
I kind of lean toward this after being on the set of Hush. But then, she also did a cool thing and gave a couple of the other extras autographed pictures.
t shrug
I'ma a primadonna, too. So like probably recognized like.
If SMG was NOT out of town during the wrap party, then her not showing would actually move me away from believing she is outright primadonna scum (what a great, all encompassing descriptor).
True primadonna scum would have shown up, hogged the spotlight and made everyone else miserable. I respect cranky people who keep it to themselves.
Primadonna may be the wrong word then, as what I'm referencing wasn't so much a case of attention seeking as being outraged at the presence of a worthless peon. But the story pings me as being so perfectly designed to make everyone have a "What a BITCH!" reaction that I'm suspicious, and it didn't come from someone whose honesty I have a personal feel for.
She pings me as a person who doesn't like socializing within her industry, for whom acting what she does, not who she is. (In other words, she doesn't seem to be uber-passionate about the craft and whatnot.) No judgement on her for that, but that would inform her actions w/r/t things like wrap parties, especially for a show she was more than ready to walk away from. However, this is an opinon completely formed from my derriere.
I wish I had julianna's derriere, but I have the same opinion. I bet she feels about wrap parties like I feel about my office Christmas party.
being outraged at the presence of a worthless peon
Nope, that definitely qualifies as prima-behavior. The very definition of it. And really sad. When people are so insecure, or so 'privileged' as to be able to waste energy being offended by the existence of others? issues t /Clem
