Ah, yes, of course. The gypsies, they gave you your soul. The gypsies are filthy people. Ptui! We shall speak of them no more.

Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

Art Crawl!!!

I can't remember the context, but I wonder if "Gimme the Spielberg" is another way of saying, "Tell me the story."

What is even happening?

It probably does mean something like that, but I can't for the life of me recall it, nor can I find record of it. The only Spielberg references I can think of in the series don't even include his name. There are a few Jaws shout-outs, and the like, the most memorable of which is probably Xander's, "We're gonna need a bigger boat," from GD I. Now I just need to know who says it in TH, and when. This time, it's personal.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

IIRC from the commentary, "Gimme the Spielberg" was Joss's shorthand to the cameraman for "Give me a gorgeously lit, iconic shot of the central character that whomps the viewer in the heart and the gut," and the cameraman's response was that blue-lit zoom in on Buffy in the millisecond after taking Luke out, looking heartstoppingly cute but feral and unstoppable, which shot Joss fell totally and utterly in love with.

Okay, so nobody actually said it in the episode?

Because that may explain why I don't remember it.

Ah, now that makes more sense. I do love that shot. Didn't they use it in the opening credits for a while?

I think they did, Sail, as the power shot at the end of the credits sequence, maybe.

That sounds about right. I think it got replaced around season 3, though, with that shot of Buffy in "Hell" from the first episode of the season, "Anne." The lighting was very similar.

Hey. New board.

How did I not know that Once More with Feeling is playing at the IFC here in NYC on Friday and Saturday?
