The new series from Boom restarts the story from the beginning, but it's remixed/updated, and the art is a HUGE improvement over the old Dark Horse comics. And it's only up to issue #4 (plus Angel and Giles in their own titles) so there's not much catching up to do.

I was mistaken - the cover of Buffy #3 has "RUPERT GILES" in ginormous letters at the top and a teeny "Buffy No. 3" down the side. I thought it was another spinoff series.
