Watching it through her eyes will be fun!
'Hell Bound'
Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!
Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.
So, of course we got off schedule already. I forgot you can't just watch S1E1 because it's a two-parter with S1E2. So we watched both.
Casper says Buffy kicks ass. Also Willow's style is super-cute. Also, what's the skater dude's name? Xander? He's kind of a doofus. But a loveable doofus. But who names their kid Xander? And what kind of a name is Buffy?
She liked all the quippy lines and would repeat them back right away. She was very interested in the 1997 fashions, some of which seem to be having a retro '90s moment at school (she mentioned Adidas and some kind of shirt someone was wearing.)
"At my school, what the not-fashionable white girls are wearing right now? It's like '90s clothes."
Y'all, 1997 was 19 years ago.
She says Buffy is very sarcastic and she should tell her mom, because like she's going to have to be constantly making up excuses, and if her mom knew, she could help her! I guess she doesn't want to get her mom messed up with it.
Giles? He's so British. (diversion on things she's learned about British accents and singing in choir at school).
Willow is super-cute. But I think she should just slap Cordelia in the face.
Angel just needs to tell everybody who he is because it's just killing me not knowing who he is. She thinks he might be a good vampire, or another slayer.
Also, where is Buffy's dad?
Watching Buffy made me miss ita. I kept imagining her critiquing the fight scenes.
Aw, Casper is giving me a lot of feels, flea.
But who names their kid Xander?
Nobody! It's short for Alexander. But...you explained that.
and she should tell her mom, because like she's going to have to be constantly making up excuses, and if her mom knew, she could help her!
This suggests that you're doing a good job at parenting.
I have to say, on rewatch, (I'm up to Beauty and the Beasts), my almost-20-years-older self does not find Xander to be a lovable doofus. He's such a smarmy Nice Guy that it's making my skin crawl a little thinking I ever found that attitude charming or funny.
I am looking forward to getting back home and catching up with the current W&P.
There's a reason I was rooting for the murderous bloodsucking corpse (no, the other one) to win Buffy's heart back in the day.
Xander always rubbed me the wrong way. But there's a lot of Whedon's humor that doesn't hit me as funny, so I thought I was just out of step as usual.
