PC, I wholeheartedly agree with:
I realized that I didn't really have a clue where the episode was going, and I liked that.
A big weakness for me in Ep 2.7 was that
as soon as Rose got sucked, it was obvious that the Wire would be defeated and everyone would be restored. This time around we've had one senseless death already and who knows how many others in the pipeline. And that's much better. I agree that this ep revived my enthusiasm for the series.
One thing I love about the Tenth Doctor is
his bubbly enthusiasm for the human race. Also the way he has apologised to various victims.
In 2.8, did the music in the
scene where demon-writing!guy was outside and broke the window remind anyone else of Firefly?
One other thing I loved was
the security guy reciting poetry. The fact there was no comment or attribution really sold the moment, I thought.
Oh, I have a question. Have we (by we, I mean the Doctor Who audience) ever seen a companion die in the course of the show?
At least two companions have died, Katarina, and Adric.

Is he so different from the Ninth Doctor in that aspect? Nine shared that sentiment pretty highly, from what I recall. Perhaps not so ebulliently, though.
Anne, I really liked that moment too.
The Ninth Doctor was not so much with the hugging. All the Doctors I am familiar with (which would be Three, Four, Nine, and Ten) mention how fond they are of humans now and again.

for me, too. Much as I adore Captain Jack, I have trouble imagining him marrying. And Sparrow's a lovely, lovely character, but he'd need a week or two in a bath (and probably on antibiotics) before I'd want to touch him.
