Gimme a sec...
Proving Ground:
Col. Jack O'Neill is assigned to train a new SG team, which includes former cadet Hailey, who is now a lieutenant.
O'Neill puts the team through training exercises, and he stresses the importance of being able to identify one's real enemies.
The training is cut short, however, when O'Neill learns that Stargate Command might be facing an alien incursion. Now he has to take this unproven team into a real combat situation — one for which they might be woefully unprepared.
Except it's all a fake-out to test the newbies.
Foothold is the one where they have the little devices that let them look like each other, and Sam shoots Jack. Proving Ground is the one with the cadets from the Academy.
And Foothold has Maybourne!
Foothold:
En route to the infirmary after an extended mission, SG-1 learns that part of Stargate Command has been sealed off because of a chemical leak. Soon afterward, during their routine examinations, medical officer Dr. Janet Fraiser injects each member of the team with a sedative, rendering them unconscious.
Teal'c is the first to awaken; he secretly observes Dr. Fraiser and Gen. Hammond talking with two aliens. The general orders Teal'c and Maj. Samantha Carter placed in holding cells. Feigning unconsciousness, Teal'c waits until he and his escorts are away from the infirmary before overpowering the guards and waking Carter.
Carter and Teal'c quickly realize that they cannot trust anyone in Stargate Command and must seek help from outside the base. During the escape, one of them is captured. The other must rely on the one person they can't trust in order to save SGC and Earth from imminent invasion.
I don't know why I'm pasting descriptions instead of just summarizing. Lazy? Yes, I think lazy.
Aha. I was wrong.
I like Proving Ground, not least of all because I was fooled by it, but still enjoy it on rewatch. Plus, characterisation setup for the ep where the boysoldier gets Jolinar.
::cough::Lantash::cough:: Who are you, and what have you done with ita?
I liked Proving Ground. I like Foothold a lot for the Maybourne stuff. It's before he's really a go-to guy, but he sort of ends up that way despite himself in the ep anyway.
Jesus. Training is killing my brain.
Let's pretend this whole thing never happened, eh?
Deal. I found it rather unsettling. Or would have, had it happened.
Did everyone else know that PW was going to be on Medium? A pleasant surprise. Not that he was on it much.
Doctor Who: the clay adventure [link] short animation. Not particularly spoilery that I can tell.
