Art Crawl!!!

James Callis comment on season 3 of BSG -- not spoilery for anyone who is caught up.

Strega - May 09, 2006 6:46:24 am PDT #8564 of 10001

That makes me go "eeeeeeeeee."

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Add my eeeeee! to yours, Strega.

Although, there were already a lot of people who thought the show was too grim. Grimmer and darker? Wow.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I wish BSG would relent a wee bit more often.

Oh, yes. TV Jack is a marvel. I mean, even when you count in the strange dumbing down, his high points lift the average so high he's still my one true TV boyfriend.

If you FCM O'Neill, Bauer and Bristow, O'Neill for the marry, Bristow for the chuck (I'd happily marry him, but hey, O'Neill) and Bauer for the fuck.

Things that make you go, "Eeeeeeeee!" indeed.

ETA: That was in response to Callis' comments, though the FCM scenario, with which I agree, could get the same response.

I would C Bauer and F SpyDaddy, since any kind of romantic contact with Jack Bauer = 75% mortality rate.

I would, of course, marry Jack O'Neill.

Of all the fannish Jacks, Captain Jack from DW would probably be the funnest and least complicated character for F in the FCM game.

Cap'n Jack is a definite F. I think if you F Bauer it has to be angsty and hurried and you never see each other again because it would just be too much, plus it's the worst day of his life. Again.

Sounds within my capability.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I chuck Bauer. Who knows who might come after me for even giving him the time of day?? But I'm not sure I was either Bristow or O'Neill. They're both parental-age for me, which isn't always a dealbreaker, but.

a lot of people who thought the show was too grim

You know, I remember saying this when I saw the miniseries, but I think it's also true of the series: it's not grim, it's grim-lite. A really grim story would dwell on horrors, develop their inevitability and their ramifications. But BSG brings them up and then doesn't follow through. Like getting the nasty initial thrill without having to pay for it.

I think the lack of respite makes it properly grim. Sure, it could be grimmer, but that's what The Sopranos is for. It's an uncomplicated grim, since they don't follow through on the potential complications. But my semantics dub it grim.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Yeah on angsty and hurried and never seeing each other again, but the never-seeing part would be because you'd be on the run from the terrorists who are after Jack before you could put your underpants back on, AND end up getting shot in the back as Jack tried to lift you to the helicopter, and there you would be, bleeding into the asphalt with your panties around the ankles. The sex would be hot (if hurried) to be sure, but I'd say thanks, but no thanks.
