Just read a fan's comment which said she's so happy Dr. Who is back that she'd love a test pattern if it opened with the show's theme. I can relate.

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Oh, yeah. Although I'd be grateful if the test pattern included Christopher Eccleston.
I get the same surge of glee as I used to get from the Buffy theme. For a few seconds, all is well in the world.

I couldn't believe how psyched I was watching the new opening credits for the first time. I can't think of a piece of theme music that amps up my enthusiasm more than the Dr. Who theme. Much as I love some other iconic theme music - Buffy, The Avengers, The Prisoner & Sealab 2021 all come to mind off the top of my head - nothing gives me quite the chill glee that the Dr. Who theme does. Maybe "Woke up this Morning" from The Sopranos, but that's not an original to the show. I couldn't believe how psyched I was watching the new opening credits for the first time.
I think the amazing thing is it doesn't sound dated like a lot of classic theme songs. And I curse the SciFi channel for doing their usual blahblahblah over the end credits. The music in the opening credits doesn't last long enough - I want more of it!
The other thing that does it for me is the TARDIS sound effect.
Oh, yes.
And I'm really impressed -- when I heard they'd updated the theme, my heart sank. The new theme is still completely the Doctor Who theme, only cooler. Much like the show.
The Doctor Who theme was already ruined when they changed it in the '80s.
Have to admit, I much prefer the version they had in the late Baker/Davison era.
Odd moment this morning watching Ice Men when I realized Brandy Ledford (most recently seen as the plasticene alleged scientist on the "Inferno" episode of SGA) was performing a love scene with David Hewlett. During which she still couldn't manage a facial expression.
She needs to stick to playing robots.

She wasn't even very good at that--although Andromeda's hardly a place to shine. Still, she was out-avatared by Doig.

The new theme was my first time hearing it (that I remember, at least), and I love it a lot.
The 60's-70's version of the theme song was the best. It was made with analog oscillators, none of this digital crap.
