Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Thanks all. I didn't catch the mini, and by the time the word was out how good the series proper was, I hadn't caught on by then, and didn't want to play catch up at that point. Looks like I'll have to now.
Isn't one of the episodes in the Season 2 part 1 extended from the broadcast version?
Isn't one of the episodes in the Season 2 part 1 extended from the broadcast version?
Yeah, but we don't get the longer version until the Season 2 part 2 DVDs come out (they didn't have time to do the final edit on the long version of that episode for the Season 2 part 1 DVDs, so we got the regular, broadcast version).
The episode is "Pegasus."
edit 'cuz my brain is not working....
You mean the Season 2 part 2 videos. And I thought that they had said that it wasn't happening. They being Ron Moore. . . but I don't recall where I heard or read that.
Stupid brain, with its caffeine addiction....
I haven't heard anything recently. I just heard that the long version was supposed to be in the 2.1 DVD release, but then when the DVDs came out people were disappointed when that wasn't so. So that's when I heard it was gonna be in the 2.2 release. But that was a while ago....
Yeah, I remember Moore saying that the 90-minute version of "Pegasus" would be on the 2.2 set. Unless he said something contradicting that in one of the more recent podcasts, 'cause I'm still way behind on those.
But strictly from a business angle, I don't know why they wouldn't continue doing half-seasons.
I really like the half-season releases. Yeah, I suppose I'll end up spending more than if I bought a full-season release but at least for BSG (which broadcasts ten consecutive episodes, takes a
long
break, and then broadcasts the last ten) it gives me the ability to re-watch the first half of the season right before the second half airs.
Yeah, I could just leave the earlier episodes on the TiVo, but the DVDs are just more convienent, especially when I wanna listen to the podcasts while watching an ep (the podcasts magically transform into DVD commentaries).
Exactly. The materials are all there, they just add shiny packaging. And $40 is closer to impulse-purchase. And they time the releases to cross-promote with new episodes, which makes it easy for new viewers to catch up. Plus iTunes... And all that has to cut down on piracy.
Even if I didn't like the show, I'd be tempted to buy the DVDs just because I admire their marketing plan so much.
Skipping merrily past all the BSG posts as I haven't seen the episode to say: "Scratch n' Sniff" takes the cake as a top-five favorite episode of Farscape. Anything that has D'Argo and Crichton dancing, people.
Dancing.
Continuing to vroom through Highlander.
1. Amanda's pretty inept with a sword, isn't she? One assumes she's been cuteing her way through life, and that at some point there won't be a guy around to rescue her and she'll die.
2. Did Methos really intend to die in "Methos"? It sure looked like it, like he was just too tired and didn't want to deal any more.
3. Were any of you in the fanbase when "Comes A Horseman" hit? Were there shrieks and gnashes of teeth?
One assumes she's been cuteing her way through life, and that at some point there won't be a guy around to rescue her and she'll die.
She gets her own series, where she isn't saved too often.
