"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Does anybody else think Farscape (as of early S3) is incredibly heteronormative?

Huh. When I started watching, I very nearly asked shrift if everyone on the show was sleeping with each other. So...no.

If I only had a brain...

I think everybody would draw the line at Rygel, and probably Pilot.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Well, there's that visual of Chiana-in-D'Argo's body coming on to Rygel-in-John's body in OOTM. Hilarious, wrong and kind of sexy, I thought. Well, as sexy as anything involving Ryg, and I'm talking as someone who loves the slug.

The slashiest pairings in FS involves Scorpius, including Scorpy/Braca, which is practically canon, and of course, Scropius/Crichton. If Scorpy weren't so bloody ugly, the slashers would've been all over that pairing like white on rice.

I'd settle for Crais/Crichton.

I think everybody would draw the line at Rygel, and probably Pilot.

And yet, Rygel is among the most canonically paired with other characters....

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Does anybody else think Farscape (as of early S3) is incredibly heteronormative?

I kind of felt that way. That the slash wasn't so much on the surface. But Chianna is canonically bisexual. And there are some vibes between John and Scorpy. I think the main thing is that it's just rare for a show to have such a strong and compelling het relationship at its core. That some of the impulse for slash is finding the more complex intimacies. And the show already had that in its canonical relationships.

But Dana's Experience Contradicts That.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Well, in the context of a heteronormative culture, Farscape doesn't stray altogether far during its first 3 seasons. (I mean, there are vibes and suggestions, but never anything more than that.) Then you get to season 4, and then you learn the meaning of heteronormative.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'd settle for Crais/Crichton.

Puuuurrrrrrrrrrrr. That would be pretty. Could Crichton be in the Peacekeeper uniform from A Bug's Life? Well, in the beginning, anyway . . .

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Eh, not necessarily. I agree that Crichton/D'Argo slash, which might be one of the most natural pairings, is often difficult to pull off because Aeryn is almost always such a huge presence.

But Crichton/Scorpy has all sorts of delicious messed-up possibilities. And then there's Braca. Chiana/Jool was a reasonably popular femslash pairing.
