'War Stories'

Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Betsy, re Highlander, Immortals cannot reproduce, at least not in the normal human way, and no other way was ever shown canonically. They were all orphans, with no known parents. Where they come from was never addressed.

Except for the movie that told us they were all aliens, which I think we'd all rather dismiss as a fevered drunken dream of Connor's.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Remember that you could get a Ritchie as easily as a Methos.

Aww, I kinda liked Ritchie. He was relatively normal. Not hot like Methos, but okay in an ordinary-guy kind of way.

I liked Richie in spite of myself. He's the kind of character I usually hate.

Methos, I still yearn for.

edited to take out the t in Richie!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I discovered HL fic before I saw the earlier episodes. So when I finally saw the first couple of seasons I was surprised how much I didn't hate Richie. He seemed like a fairly standard character who knows nothing about the Big Plotline and whose introduction to the BP serves as the viewer's. I didn't want to jump him, but I found him tolerable.

Methos, on the other hand, was and is utterly jumpable.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Of all the immortals, Methos wins hands down. Xavier St Cloud had his villainous appeal, and Fitzcairn had his charm.

There were times when Duncan was hot, but familiarity might have bred too much contempt.

Yeah, I could have seen a fling with him, but the brooding would have driven me nuts over time.
