A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Our wings are not tired.

I didn't watch Farscape when it originally aired. I watched the entire series straight through over about a month in anticipation of the mini-series. I loved the whole, but it would have been better if I had watched one ep a week. The contrast between the brilliant episodes and the whatever were they thinking episodes is more startling when viewed in a marathon.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It helps to realize they made them once a week (or less frequently with between season breaks) which is a killing pace for everyone involved.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

...don't they make most television shows once a week? Or are we talking a less-than-eight-day turnover?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Though I occasionally have issues with Scorpius' motivations.

I think the writers did, too. But I forgive them.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I'm guessing they mean it's a killing pace as compared to normal life, not as compared to other high-energy dramas.

Actually, IIRC, most 1 hour shows take at least two weeks per ep, with some overlap, hence the starting filming during the summer, and not solidly showing through the season.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

One of the reasons behind the dodgy issues with the first half of season 1 is that they were actually producing two episodes at once. By which I mean filming. This made life very difficult for everyone, and everything suffered. Given that, I'm pleased season 1 starts as strongly as it does.

Claudia Black, by the way, was simultaneously also shooting Pitch Black: there's a reason she looks so tired in that movie.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Not only two episodes, but two non-consecutive episodes, which really baffles me.

Art Crawl!!!

Yeah, their production schedule for the first half of season 1 must have been insane.

In Farscape, Aeryn is a badass and Crichton is a geek.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Watching weekly, it's very interesting to see Crichton turn from freshly-scrubbed, albeit geeky, BMOC into a traumatized freak, thence into realpolitik. The color-coding is really obvious, when you're watching in a marathon: he puts on the black leather one day, just putting on a costume to play a role, and he never changes back into the khakis he wore aboard.

(And then he gets a bad haircut, but that is not directly indicative of his mental health, or anyway I hope not.)
