Why couldn't Daniel just use a ZPM to catch up with Atlantis, instead of being stranded on Earth when the Pegasus left?
There's only one ZPM, and they have it on Atlantis. So you can get back to Earth from Atlantis lickety-split (at least I assume so; I don't think we've seen actual evidence of that) but going the other way takes a while and requires the... ship which is not the Prometheus. Crap! You know, the ship. With Caldwell. I swear to God my brain has turned off this month.

What's a puddle-jumper, and how does the Daedalus differ from the Prometheus?
A puddle-jumper is an Atlantean (Lantian? What is the adjective?) ship. It's designed, among other things, to fit through the gate, so they can fly places rather than going on foot. Which is handy, because some of the gates are in space.
Ever since Maayan called the puddle-jumper "space tampax", I am unable to look at the ship go through the gate without collapsing in giggles like a 12-year-old. This poses a problem as that particular visual tends to occur several times in the course of each episode.

Daedalus and Prometheus aren't tragedies, though. They're figures from Greek mythology. Their stories aren't the happiest, but whose were in those days? At least they haven't named a ship the Oedipus.
Well, can we agree on "somewhat tragic figures"? I'll grant that Oedipus would be worse (though I'm just waiting for Icarus, myself).
Which is handy, because some of the gates are in space.
Speaking of which, have they addressed how our intrepid gaters tell a space address from a ground address? I'm hoping they don't have to surrender a MALP to the vacuum of space every time, because that would make me sad.
What happens if someone tries to go through the wormhole the wrong way? Do they end up atomized or something?
