Oh, I saw a promo for that show. I cannot think of it without appending, "I do not think it means what you think it means," of course. But I didn't notice it was Crashdown. Good for him!

Art Crawl!!!

Okay, its on NBC in the BSG timeslot -- first episode airs September 23rd.

I'm guessing that he's not a regular? (Because he wasn't mentioned in any of the Zap2it stuff about the show.)

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

No, I don't think so. It's a medical show about infertile couples, or people, actually. And from what I saw, he's a client. Wife killed in Iraq, somehow he's hoping the clinic can produce their child.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Although they managed to out-gay the previous two episodes, which had a) an actual same-sex kiss, and b) the whole team in bondage.

nods

It's awe-inspiring, really.

(So it was the first boy/boy snog on SF telly? Wow. How did it take reality so very long to catch up with fandom?)

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Depends on your definition of "snog"--there was a male/male kiss in Doctor Who a few months beforehand.

That's right! And no body possession, either. Man, that was a lovely scene.

If I only had a brain...

Somebody feel like giving me an overview of the Boomer-is-a-Cylon thing? How many boomers are there? Has she always known she was a Cylon? Why didn't anybody notice the light-up spine?

Why didn't anybody notice the light-up spine?

That, you're just going to have to hand wave. It was an (admitted by the creators) lame thing to do.

Gallactica!Boomer didn't realize she was a Cylon. But she started having suspicions when she started having blackouts and finding herself in the possession of missing explosives and such. But she was still kind of confused. She had Baltar do a Cylon test on her. He lied and told her she was not a Cylon. Oh, der, forgot that part - see Fay's post re: blowing up the multi-Sharons on the Cylon ship. Then she tried to kill Adama, and, well, I guess her programming or whatever stopped trying to fool her. That's how I saw it, anyway.

Caprica!Boomer knew she was a Cylon all along. But she fell in lurve (or, her programming is telling her so. Whatever.) and got pregnant (maybe not in that order), and so she's all about protecting her baby and convincing Helo that she loves him now. She turned on her Cylon buddies on Caprica. And she saved the asses of the resistance people, Starbuck, and Helo on Caprica. So.

That's my version in a nutshell.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Galactica!Boomer didn't know she was a Cylon until pretty much the end of S1 - and even then, the knowing was kind of a Deeply In Denial thing. But she'd started to suspect, because Weird And Inexplicable Shit had happened too damned many times. But she was the guinea pig for Gaius's Cylon Detecting Machine, and of course he didn't say "Well, young lady, looks like you're a killer robot!", so she thought (reasonably) that she must be okay, and that the Weird Shit must just be weird shit. Poor girl. And she went on a Heroic Mission with another chick (and let me add how utterly I adored that the two pilots were both female, and that this was a total non-issue, as much a neutral thing as if it had been two guys) right INTO a Cylon ship. And Boomer ended up seeing gazillions of other Boomers, and having a Great And Terrible Revelation, and then bombing them all to frack, and tried to pretend to herself that it hadn't happened. And promptly got taken over by her Inner Scary Cylon Assassin Self, and shot Adama.

Why didn't anybody notice the light-up spine?

That really was a bad call on the part of the show's designers, wasn't it? Temporary cheap impact which has a big knock on "...but, hey, hang on, wtf" impact upon development of canon. I got nothin', other than the fact that she must be pretty darned careful about the positions in which she has teh sex.

Snog = French kissing.

If this Cap'n Jack snogged both Rose and The Doctor, I am a very happy girl indeed.

eta clarity.

Caprica!Boomer knew fine well what she was. But still got all sentimental about the meatboy she was shagging. Bless.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

There were two main Boomers - the one on Caprica knew she was a Cylon (and hung out with the other Cylons) and the one on Galactica suspected she might be one since season 1 ep 2 (she later told Baltar, "I'm afraid I might hurt someone.") We've seen other Boomers on Caprica and on the Cylon basestar that got blowed up.

The light-up spine is silly and IIRC Moore has acknowledged it wasn't the best idea.

eta: Way xposty. I am slow.
