Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Teyla deserves to get some. Well, and so does he, for that matter.
Yeah, but does it have to be the pretty brown people shacking up together? Can't Teyla bond with, oh, Zelenka or someone?
I hope Teyla gets something interesting to do soon. They've got all these interesting men running around, and the women... aren't, so much.
And I'm still bitter that SG-1's PTB seem to think that
two strong female characters are too much for their show.
?? Pretty brown people? I thought Ronon was pretty much just unwashed wrt brownness or lack thereof.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Zelenka fan - but I'm afraid that it's
Ronon
who stood and smouldered on the threshold of her
bedroom
in a pose borrowed from Aragorn, while she had her legs spread at a 180 degree angle while doing the yoga stretch thing. Maybe if Zelenka pulled that kind of stunt, I'd be thinking 'yeah, she must be having some definite feelings of lust going on there'. Well, that and the workouts in the fighting room. And the hotness. And the whole 7-years-on-the-run thing. She may have been managing to not have the lustful thoughts when it was just John and Rodney and Ford (although that would put her in the minority), but she
gets
Ronon, I think, more than she gets Sheppard. He's pretty much 'Wraith Bad, Guns Pretty, Fighting Fun'. And while she's got the whole sense of responsibility to her community and friends on top of that, that's pretty much where she's at too, I think.
Plus - the whole OMG hotness.
I do love Zelenka, though. Who would I believe Zelenka being paired up with? (I really would like to know more about Cadman and Rodney's dategirl, incidentally. If nobody else has written this, I may have to write the bloody fic myself.) Maybe that nice blonde Science girl on the Daedalus. She was cool.
Consuela, are you referring to Vala leaving as Sam returns? Because that one could be explained by guest star schedules as well as by sexism.
Betsy, true, but. Let me be bitter anyway.
Oh, Jack/Daniel readers: Komos has new fic. It's entirely smutty. Don't even go near this from work levels of smutty.
Fay, I may be oversensitive on the issue, and I agree that they have chemistry, and they seem to be setting it up that way. I just think it's kind of obvious, and really, given the size of the Pegasus galaxy, why do we assume that Ronon has anything more in common with Teyla than with the Earthers?
Teyla's from a rural, semi-nomadic, rather spiritual people. They don't appear to have any advanced weaponry, although it's possible their knowledge base is far more sophisticated than their technology. Ronon, on the other hand, is a weapons specialist, military trained, from a highly technological, urban society. Despite his recent experiences, he's got a lot more in common, I think, with Sergeant Bates or my mythical Airman Teresa Jones, than he does with Teyla Emmagen.
IJS.
why do we assume that Ronon has anything more in common with Teyla than with the Earthers?
Two, two, two exotics at once!
Yes, I am making my sociocultural point about orientalism by punning on a commercial. That is what makes me postmodern.
t eats Nutty's brain, cause she's smart AND funny
And yes, thank you, you clarified my point exactly.
Well, I'm glad you liked it, because I was totally guessing and haven't seen the particular episodes being debated.
Still and all, the big clue was who is allowed to say "don't" and "can't" in dialogue, and who has to say every syllable like an actor at speech class. Also, I bet there is a correlation between fictional peoples who may be considered exotic and fictional peoples almost totally ignorant of the concept of irony.
Ah, well, Ronan/on does get to speak with contractions, slanginess, and snark, so there's that departure, at least.
I'm looking forward to Sam coming back, but I will miss Vala, and I would love to see them together. Could still, I suppose. I have a question, but not sure about wf, so...
is Vala gone now? As in, won't be in this week's ep? Not much of a send-off. Did I just breeze by the part where they fixed the being connected to Daniel thing? I admit to not watching the SG eps closely this past week, but I'd think I would've caught that much
.
Jen, I saw her in the trailer I saw last night, so she's definitely in this ep.
Oh, OK, good. Well, then maybe I'll get my wish. That'd be nice.
